Two Electrolyzers Arrive in Oshivela, Namibia
Another milestone for the Oshivela Green Iron Project in Namibia: On November 19, HyIron received two 6-megawatt electrolyzers, which are now being installed on-site. These key components enable the production of green hydrogen and lay the foundation for climate-friendly iron production – a groundbreaking innovation for heavy industry.
The importance of this progress was underscored by the visit of Namibia’s Minister in the Presidency, Christine ǁHoebes. On-site, the central role of the project for Namibia’s sustainable development and international cooperation was highlighted.
“With the arrival of the electrolyzers, we have reached a crucial milestone in the Oshivela Project. This endeavor impressively demonstrates how sustainable technologies can transform international value chains,” explains Kelvine Amukwaya of HyIron.
The project saves 27,000 tons of CO₂ annually, making a significant contribution to the global energy transition and the decarbonization of steel production.
